POLICE WARN CITIZENS ABOUT ATTEMPTED FRAUD SCAM
Police are reminding residents to be vigilant when receiving unsolicited calls from persons pretending to be employees of a financial institution. Owen Sound Police has learned of one such scam where the suspects are using modified call ID to make it appear like the call is coming from the Attorney General’s office or another legitimate justice partner. The callers are attempting to gather sensitive personal information in order to commit fraud and/or identity theft. Police remind residents that organizations involved in the justice system would not make these sorts of calls.
