The Owen Sound Police Service has a requirement for two (2) part-time Dispatchers. Under the direction of their supervisor, these positions will be responsible for administrative and emergency call-taking and dispatching in computerized Communications Centre. These positions involve shift work and have no guaranteed number of hours per week.
To be considered for one of these positions the applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada; preferably have between 3-5 years of experience in a dispatch role, possess a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent (completion of the 911 & Emergency Service Communications program is an asset); possess accurate and proficient computer and keyboarding skills; the ability to multi-task; be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted. They must also have excellent interpersonal and strong decision-making skills.
