Youth In Policing Initiative (YIPI)

The Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is a paid employment opportunity for youth between the ages of 15 and 18 years.  Our YIPI students engage in hands on learning experiences that emphasize the importance of leadership, teamwork, and community engagement.  Our goals for our students are to:

• Promote youth participation in the work environment through educational and productive work assignments
• Develop and enhance employment, life and teamwork skills
• Enhance the relationships between police and the youth we serve

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:

• Are between the ages of 15-18
• Currently enrolled in secondary school
• Be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Successfully complete the recruitment and background clearance process
• Be responsible for transportation to and from work locations

• Engagement with the community and difference organizations
• YIPI students can expect a fitness component to their work, often riding bicycle (provided by the police) to different events and throughout the community.
• Giving students insight to the various areas of policing
