DRUG RECOGITION EXPERT ASSIST WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING INVESTIGATION
At 02:00a.m. on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, the Owen Sound Police, Owen Sound Fire Department and Grey County paramedics responded to an East Side business after citizen’s found two unresponsive males inside a running motor vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger of the motor vehicle were transported to the Owen Sound Hospital for medical treatment after Narcan had to be administered at the scene. Narcan is a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of an overdose.
The Owen Sound Police Service Drug Recognition Expert assisted in the investigation and determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by drug. As a result, a 28-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
- Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration.
Additionally, the driver had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
