    Death Investigation Concluded

    Just after 1:30pm on Sunday June 30th, 2024, the Owen Sound Police Service received reports of a fire in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue East. Upon arrival, police found a citizen performing lifesaving measures on a 58-year-old man. The man was transported to the Brightshores Health System where he succumbed to his injuries. As a result of investigation from the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Owen Sound Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, the Office of the Coroner and the Owen Sound Fire Department, it has been determined that the cause of death was from the blunt trauma from the fall from height. At this time, this incident is considered non-suspicious and is not believed to be criminal in nature. Police would like to thank those who recognized the immediate dangers, quickly called 911 and rendered assistance.

    Please Lock Your Vehicles A Reminder From City Police

    The Owen Sound Police Service would like to remind the citizens of Owen Sound to lock their vehicles at all times.  This comes after police received numerous complaints of theft from vehicles in the past two days.

    Two Vehicle Collision Sends Five Involved Passengers To Hospital

    On July 7th, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a collision occurred at the intersection of 8th Avenue East and 20th Street East, Owen Sound, which sent all involved drivers and passengers to hospital.   One passenger sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  

  • Head On Collision

    On Thursday July 10th shortly after 6:00 p.m. emergency services responded to a two-vehicle head on collision in the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue West.

  • Missing Person Investigation

    The Owen Sound Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 36-year-old Brandon Sawyer (Photograph attached).  Brandon SAWYER is described as a Caucasian male with brown hair who is approximately 5’10” tall with an average build.

    Death Investigation

    On June 30, 2024 at approximately 13:30 hours Owen Sound Police received multiple reports of a fire at an apartment in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue East.  In addition to the fire, a deceased 58-year-old man was discovered on the sidewalk directly in front of the building.

    Arrest Made After Downtown Knife Attack

    On June 22nd, 2024 at approximately 10:15 p.m., an Owen Sound man was attacked with a knife in the 300 block of 8th Street East.

  • Vehicle Rollover in Owen Sound

    An 80 year-old female was charged with Careless Driving after she struck a parked vehicle and rolled over in the 1600 block of 7th Avenue East, Owen Sound this afternoon.

    Job Posting: Part Time Special Constable

    The Owen Sound Police Service has a requirement for part time Special Constables, who will be responsible primarily for prisoner control and court security functions.  This is a part-time position with no guaranteed hours and may involve occasional overtime.  Candidates must be available for a minimum of two shifts per week.

    Delivery Driver Failed To Stop For School Bus

    Delivery driver charged with failing to stop for school bus.  The driver incurred a fine of $490 and 6 demerit points.
