MEDIA RELEASE
Owen Sound Police Kick Off 2024 Crime Prevention Week
Today, Owen Sound Police Service kicked off Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, which runs from November 3 to 9, 2024. The week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and police services across Ontario. The theme for 2024 is "Awareness in Action: Keeping Ontario Safe Together," which emphasizes the vital role of community engagement in policing and crime prevention.
“People in our community deserve to live and work in a safe and healthy environment. Most types of crimes are preventable, and Crime Prevention Week is a great opportunity for everyone to consider what they can do to keep their families, neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces safe from criminal activities.” said Chief Craig Ambrose.
Ontario communities are among the safest in the world, but community safety and well-being takes awareness of dangerous situations that can lead to crime and collaboration to prevent crime from occurring. That’s why Owen Sound Police Service is proud to partner with government, community leaders and organizations, young people, and businesses to prevent crime throughout our communities.
