During a short ceremony today at the Owen Sound Police Station Special Constable Cory Fernando was recognized by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Member of Parliament Alex Ruff with the presentation of a Queen’s Jubilee Commemorative Coin and certificate.
The Owen Sound Police Service has concluded a Human Trafficking Investigation which has resulted in the arrest of a 43 year old Owen Sound male for several sex related criminal charges. The man was arrested on Monday November 21st, 2022 after investigators were alerted about a local 15 year old girl being exploited for sexual services.
This weekend’s heavy snowfall caused motorists to struggle with driving within the city. Although there were only a few collisions reported to police, officers did spend a significant period of time each day assisting driver’s and assisted over two dozen on Sunday alone.

On Saturday October 22nd just before 1:00 p.m., a member of the Owen Sound Police Service was conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the 600 block of 6th Street East, Owen Sound. The officer observed a vehicle being driven in an aggressive manner and as a result initiated a traffic stop in order to investigate. The Owen Sound Police Service, along with the Owen Sound Fire Department, attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the 600 block of 10th Street West. A vehicle had lost control and struck a hydro pole at the top of the hill, causing major damage to both the vehicle and the pole.
Witnesses stopped to assist the driver, who ended up fleeing the scene on foot while the witness was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher. Several lanes of the roadway were closed while the investigation was taking place and a Hydro One technician attended to assess the risk and damage.

From October 7th to 10th, 2022, police across the country will be focused on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users at risk: impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs or fatigue, as well as aggressive driving, distracted driving, and driving without a seat belt.
