It may not have been in your plans to become a parent at a young age, but there are plenty of resources available to assist you and to help make your new life a little easier.
It is important to have support from friends, family and hopefully the child’s other parent as you will face a variety of challenges:
Economic - Parenting is expensive with the added food, supplies and child care you will need
Social – You will have a lot less time for yourself and your friends may not understand the new responsibilities that you have acquired
Emotional – Parenting can be extremely stressful and take a toll on your mental well being. Utilize community resources and see your doctor if necessary, and don’t be afraid to ask for help
Practical – There will be a whole new set of skills that you will have to master once you take on your new role as a parent. Seek advice from other parents and utilize the many resources available online to help you
