How to Make a Freedom of Information Request

Requests can be made at the front desk of Owen Sound Police Service 922 2nd Avenue West, Owen Sound. Applicants will be asked to fill out a Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act form and pay a legislated $5 application fee.

Please note, applicants will be asked to provide photo identification at the time of the request.

Requests can also be made in writing by completing the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act form and mailing it to:

Along with the access form, please include a cheque or money order payable to Owen Sound Police Service. You must also include a photocopy of one piece of government-issued photo identification with your request.

 

Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Owen Sound Police Service has 30 days to respond to your request. Requests will not be accepted or fulfilled via the Internet.

 

Additional Fees

A request for personal information may be subject to 20 cents per page photocopying charges, above the initial application fee.

A request for general information may be subject to a search time charge of $30 per hour, a preparation time charge of $30 per hour and 20 cents per page photocopying charges. Owen Sound Police Service has set fees for certain records, including video and audio statements, 9-1-1 calls and photographs.
