Two Charged After Proactive Patrol Leads to Large Drug Seizure

On Sunday January 21, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a uniform patrol member was conducting proactive patrols in the downtown core when he observed a motor vehicle committing a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Further investigation revealed that the male driver was prohibited from driving, had a suspended driver’s licence and was wanted on a province wide warrant. The male driver was arrested at which time a search of the motor vehicle was conducted. The search resulted in officers locating 144 grams of fentanyl and 52 grams of cocaine, in addition to more than $10,000 in Canadian currency. The street value of the fentanyl is approximately $29,000 and the cocaine is approximately $5000.
