On Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 8:20 a.m. a single motor vehicle rollover occurred on 9^th Avenue East, north of 20^th Street East in Owen Sound.  A Toyota Tacoma pick- up truck was travelling southbound when the driver failed to negotiate an ‘S bend’ curve resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a large boulder.   The impact caused the truck to flip onto its driver’s side and come to rest in a driveway.

The 74-year-old driver of the pick- up truck was trapped inside the vehicle until members of the Owen Sound Fire Service could extract him.  The man was treated at the scene by Grey County EMS and fortunately he only suffered minimal injuries.   The truck sustained substantial damage and was removed by tow truck.

The incident resulted in the closure of 9^th Avenue East for a period of approximately 30 minutes while emergency services tended to the driver and investigated the incident.

The driver was subsequently charged with Careless Driving and Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.
