A 41 year-old Owen Sound woman of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5000 and failing to comply with her probation order after being caught stealing a Pride banner from a church in the 900 block of 4^th Avenue East in the City of Owen Sound.

On July 13^th, 2024 an alert citizen observed the theft occurring in broad daylight and was able to capture photos of the female trying to conceal the item in her bag.  The citizen reported the theft to church staff who in turn contacted police on July 15, 2024.  Owen Sound Police officers viewed the photo and were able to identify the female suspect.

The same female had been arrested by the Owen Sound Police later in the day on July 13, 2024 for several other unrelated thefts and possession of property obtained by crime.  The female was remanded into custody on July 14, 2024.
