Police Recover Stolen S.U.V.- Arrest Driver

On Friday September 20, 2024 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Owen Sound Police utilized Automated Licence Plate Recognition technology (A.L.P.R.) to locate and recover a 2023 Nissan Murano that had been reported stolen to the Chatham-Kent Police Service in August.

The 46-year-old female driver of the stolen S.U.V. was arrested in the 1200 block of 1st Avenue East, without incident.  Not only was the SUV stolen, but a second set of licence plates was also found by police inside of the vehicle, that were not lawfully in the possession of the driver.

The accused was charged under the Criminal Code with Possession of the Stolen Motor Vehicle as well as Possession of property Obtained by Crime and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in October of 2024.
