On Thursday May 23^rd at approximately 8:55 pm Owen Sound Police officers encountered a vehicle on 13^th St. W. in Owen Sound.  Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and they subsequently failed a roadside alcohol screening device test.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Owen Sound Police station where they subsequently provided a breath sample over the legal limit which resulted in criminal charges being laid for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. 

The driver of the vehicle is a part time Special Constable with the Owen Sound Police Service who was off duty at the time of the offence.  The Owen Sound Police Service employs Special Constables primarily to facilitate security requirements at the Owen Sound courthouse.
