Owen Sound Police Service Releases 2023 Annual Report
The Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) is pleased to announce the release of its 2023 Annual Report. The Annual Report is designed to give members of the public, community partners, and key stakeholders valuable information on the Service’s direction, providing statistical insight into progress on crime and safety while highlighting efforts to serve the needs of the community. In addition, the report features a Year One Progress Update of the 2023-2026 Operations Plan.
Key statistics and facts from 2023:
- 76,904 emergency 9-1-1 calls received in the Owen Sound Emergency Communication Centre (9% increase from 2022);
- 18,738 calls dispatched to OSPS (5% increase from 2022);
- 2,566 Criminal Code violations reported to OSPS (6% increase from 2022); and
- Enhancement to the OSPS and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grey Bruce partnership with addition of a full-time crisis worker dedicated to OSPS.
The report also features an overview on the achievements of the RIDE Program, the Owen Sound Emergency Communications Centre, the Information Technology (IT) branch, the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI), the Mental Health Crisis Response Team (MHCRT), the Community Oriented Response Unit (CORE), as well as a budget breakdown and a summary of the year’s major investigations.
