Owen Sound Police Service and Regional Policing Partners Launch 2024 Festive R.I.D.E. Against Impaired Driving
Owen Sound Police Service is pleased to kick off its annual Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program today with partners from Hanover Police Service, Saugeen Shores Police Service, West Grey Police Service and Grey Bruce OPP.
The campaign, implemented by police services across Ontario during the holiday season, promotes traffic enforcement and raising awareness related to the dangers associated with alcohol and drug-impaired driving. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs continues to be the most prominent factor in serious road collisions in Canada. R.I.D.E. programs remain an important part of road safety as they create a visible reminder to motorists not to drive impaired.
"With the holiday season upon us, it's crucial to prioritize safety for everyone on our roads. We all want to enjoy time with family and friends, but that enjoyment should never come at the cost of someone’s life. There is no excuse for impaired driving. I urge everyone to enjoy responsibly and plan ahead, and call 9-1-1 to report suspected impaired drivers. Let's work together to make this holiday season a safe one for all,” said Owen Sound Police Chief Craig Ambrose.
