Job Posting: Part-Time Experienced Dispatcher

Experienced Part-Time Dispatcher

The Owen Sound Police Service requires a Part-Time Experienced Dispatcher. Under the direction of their supervisor, this position will be responsible for administrative and emergency call-taking and dispatching in the computerized Communications Centre. This position involves shift work, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

To be considered for this position, the applicant must;

• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
• Have 3-5 years of experience in a Police, Fire or Ambulance dispatch role;
• Possess a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent;
• Possess accurate and proficient computer and keyboarding skills and the ability to multitask;
• Be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted;
• Have excellent interpersonal and strong decision-making skills;
• Preference will be given to applicants with experience in emergency response, distress situations, and high-stress call centre and shift environments;
• Completion of the 911 & Emergency Service Communications program is an asset.

Job tasks include. but are not limited to; operating a multi-line telephone system, answering 911 and non-emergency calls, monitoring police radio traffic, operating police radios, dispatching patrol officers to calls for service, and coordinating responses with Fire and Emergency Services.

Successful candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check and Critical Testing.
