Impaired Driving Charges After East-Side Collision
On Saturday August 24, 2024 just before 6:00 p.m. a rear-end collision occurred near the intersection of 9th Avenue East and 10th Street East, Owen Sound.
A Dodge Caravan was waiting to make a right hand turn onto 10th Street East when a Nissan Versa rear-ended the mini- van. There were no injuries as a result of the incident however the vehicles sustained substantial damage. The Nissan Versa was towed from the scene.
Owen Sound Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted.
Investigating officers believed that the driver of the Nissan Versa had been consuming alcohol and a subsequent roadside screening test produced a failing result.
The 26- year-old Owen Sound male was arrested and transported to the Owen Sound Police Station where he provided samples of his breath confirming that he was in excess of the legal limit of alcohol in his system to be driving.
The male was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Driving in Excess of 80 mgs of Alcohol and Careless Driving.
This accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in September.
