Charges in Fail to Remain Vehicle Collision

On Tuesday October 8th, 2024 at 08:20 a.m. a fail to remain, motor vehicle collision occurred involving two vehicles travelling westbound on 10th Street East, Owen Sound.  A Pontiac Vibe caused the collision by rear-ending a second vehicle before immediately fleeing from the area.  The Owen Sound Police Service responded to the scene and an investigation was commenced.

Later that day, with assistance from the public, the involved Pontiac Vibe was located abandoned in an area corn field with significant damage to the front driver side corner.  The vehicle was examined for evidence and towed.

The driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision, a 46-year-old male from Owen Sound, was identified through continued investigation and was subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act for Careless Driving, Failing to Report a Collision and Operating a Vehicle on a Highway Without Insurance.

Fortunately, there were no serious injuries as a result of the collision.
