Car vs. Motorcycle Collision Sends Two Men To Hospital
On May 6th, 2024, at approximately 9:45 hours, a collision occurred at the intersection of 2nd Avenue West and 9th Street West, Owen Sound, involving a car and a motorcycle. The Owen Sound Police Service, with the assistance of the Owen Sound Fire Department, had the intersection shut down for several hours.
Investigation of the collision found the involved motorcycle to be travelling northbound in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue West approaching the intersection at 9th Street West, when a 4 door Nissan sedan, travelling southbound, turned left onto 9th Street West, directly into the motorcycle’s path. Both drivers were taken to Brightshores Hospital by Grey County EMS. The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries, while the motorcyclist suffered more serious injuries, and shortly thereafter was airlifted by Ornge to a larger facility where he remains in hospital.
The Nissan was operated by a 73 year old local Owen Sound man. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The Police want to thank the witnesses and bystanders who attended to assist those involved. The investigation is continuing and charges under the Highway Traffic Act are pending.
