Upon their arrival, Officers located the involved parties, including a woman who had parked her car in the municipal parking lot in the 900 block of 3rd Avenue East, Owen Sound. After speaking to the woman about her involvement in the altercation, it was determined that she was intoxicated by alcohol. On August 1, 2024, at 2:45 a.m. an Officer conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that was believed to have been stolen. The vehicle pulled into a small commercial parking lot and stopped, however when the officer approached the window to speak to the driver, the vehicle accelerated forward, jumping over a curb, grassy area and the sidewalk, before proceeding westbound on 10th Street West, Owen Sound, at a high rate of speed.

Local Cannabis Store Broken Into Overnight
On August 2nd, 2024, at 3:20 a.m., members of the Owen Sound Police Service attended an alarm call at a local east side cannabis store. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found that the front door had been smashed with a hammer and entry gained to the business.
The store manager was able to access the businesses video surveillance remotely from his home, which provided an excellent description of the suspects to Officers. A short time later, two youths matching the description of the suspects were located near the harbour and taken into custody.
The two youths had no prior police involvement so as a result, the pair had their parents contacted and received a diversion under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
In only a few short days, between July 29th and August 2nd, 2024, the Owen Sound Police took 317 calls for service, which proved to be a busy mid-week for the Service.
