Assault Investigation Results in Charges
On July 16, 2024 Owen Sound Police conducted an assault investigation after a female victim reported having been intentionally poked in the eye and punched repeatedly by associates of hers, one of which was wearing brass knuckles. The assault took place inside of a moving vehicle in the area of 16th Street East and 9th Avenue East, Owen Sound.
The victim of this assault was taken to Brightshores Hospital by Grey County ambulance where she was treated and released.
On July 16th a 24-year-old Owen Sound female was arrested and charged with assault. This female is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 8, 2024 to answer to the charge.
On July 17th a 33-year-old Owen Sound male was arrested by Saugeen Shores Police on an unrelated matter. Police found the man in possession of brass knuckles. After securing his release on the Saugeen Shores Police charges, the man was taken into Owen Sound Police custody where he was charged with several offences including assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order as well as failure to comply with both an undertaking and probation order.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail court appearance where he was subsequently released. The man is next scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 15, 2024 to answer to the charges.
