The Owen Sound Police Service has a requirement for a part-time Dispatcher. Under the direction of their supervisor, this position will be responsible for administrative and emergency call-taking and dispatching in computerized Communications Centre. This position involves shift work and has no guaranteed number of hours per week.
To be considered for this positions the applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada; preferably have between 3-5 years of experience in a dispatch role, possess a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent (completion of the 911 & Emergency Service Communications program is an asset); possess accurate and proficient computer and keyboarding skills; the ability to multi-task; be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted. They must also have excellent interpersonal and strong decision-making skills.
Job tasks include but are not limited to; operating a multi-line telephone system, answering 911 and non-emergency calls, monitoring police radio traffic, operating police radios, dispatching patrol officers to calls for service, and coordinating responses with Fire and Emergency Services.
Successful candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check, and Criticall Testing.
