The Owen Sound Police Service responded to two separate incidents involving individuals who went into medical distress from illicit drug use before lunch time today. The first circumstance involved a male who was found to be unresponsive inside the washroom of a local business, and the second, a female, had recently been released from Police custody for other unrelated matters.
Officers administered Naloxone to the female, which temporarily mitigated the drug’s effects, and allowed for Grey County Paramedics to arrive and assist. The female was transported by Ambulance to the hosptial for further medical attention, while the male also received medical assistance.
Police want to remind those who use drugs to follow the advice of Grey Bruce Public Health and not use drugs alone, to carry Naloxone on them at all times and to avoid mixing drugs and alcohol. Further information can be located on the Public Health website at www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca.
