Police Raid Nets Ecstasy, Crystal Meth, Stolen Property and Weapon

In the morning hours of Thursday April 6, 2017 the Owen Sound Police Service executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a downtown apartment in the city of Owen Sound.

The Criminal Investigations and Drugs/Intelligence Unit raided the residence just before noon with the assistance of front-line officers and the Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit.  As a result, three people are charged with having methamphetamine (crystal-meth) for the purpose of trafficking after they were found with more than eight-thousand dollars ($8000.00) worth of varying types of street drugs, including crystal-meth.

In all, 75 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 42 grams of marihuana, and numerous ecstasy tablets were located.  The two men and one youth were also found to be in possession of stolen property and a prohibited expandable ‘police-style’ metal baton.

A 25 year old Owen Sound, Ontario man faces charges possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ecstasy, possession of marihuana and possession of proceeds of crime;

A 35 year old Harriston, Ontario man faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ecstasy, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a prohibited weapon;

A 17 year old youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ecstasy and possession of marihuana.

All three have been held in police custody and will appear in court on Friday April 7, 2017 at 10:00 am.
