On May 30th just after 11:30 p.m., Owen Sound Police responded to the 900 block of 16th Street East in relation to a male damaging provincial campaign signs. As a result of the investigation a 44-year-old Grey County resident was arrested and charged with three counts of Mischief Under $5000.00 in relation to damaging and removing several of the signs.
The man will make a court appearance in Owen Sound on June 30th 2022.
During election years, police receive many calls for service where residents of the city report that their electoral candidate support signs have been damaged, stolen or strewn about the roadway. The Owen Sound Police Service is reminding the public that it is a criminal offence for any person to remove, damage or interfere with any property that they have no ownership of. This includes election signs.
