Impaired Driver Arrested

Posted on June 23, 2022

On June 5th, 2022, prior to bar closing, members of the Owen Sound Police Service Community Response and Enforcement Unit and a Compliance Inspector of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario were conducting compliance checks of the licenced establishments in the area of the River District.

While inside one of the establishments, officers observed an intoxicated male party being escorted from the premise by security. Officers attended the parking lot at the rear of the business and located the male sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the keys in the ignition.

The male party was arrested at the scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to Owen Sound Police Service for breath tests. The male party provided two samples of his breath which registered almost twice that of the legal limit.

The male was additionally charged with possession of a prohibited weapon after officers located “brass knuckles” in the male’s pocket during a search incident to arrest.

The 41 year old Wiarton man will be attending court later this month to answer to the charges.
