On Saturday October 22nd just before 1:00 p.m., a member of the Owen Sound Police Service was conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the 600 block of 6th Street East, Owen Sound.  The officer observed a vehicle being driven in an aggressive manner and as a result initiated a traffic stop in order to investigate.  The police investigation determined that the 27-year-old male driver was under the influence of alcohol and as a result, had to provide a sample of breath into an approved screening device.  The driver failed the test and was taken into custody.  Once at the Owen Sound Police Service the Owen Sound resident provided samples of his breath to a police breathalyzer technician.  The tests revealed that the driver had over one- and one-half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.  The man also had multiple suspensions of his Ontario Driver’s Licence and as a result, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.  The male is to appear in court in October in order to answer to the Criminal Code charges of Operation While Impaired, and Operation While Impaired - Over 80 mgs, as well as three charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
