POLICE ASK THE PUBLIC TO BE VIGILANT OF WILDLIFE AT NIGHT

On November 14th, 2019, at approximately 2:25 a.m., a flat bed tow truck was driving westbound just inside the city limits on 16th Street East when it struck a large animal crossing the roadway. The area was dark with no artificial street lighting, causing reduced visibility. The driver stopped the truck and found that the animal involved in the collision was an approximately 250 pound black bear.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle

On the 5th of November 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 54 old man was walking west bound on 9th Street East crossing 2nd Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.  The vehicle had been south bound on 2nd Avenue, made a turned onto 9th Street, briefly slowed then left the area.  The pedestrian was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for minor injury.

MALE CHARGED AFTER DRIVING COMPLAINT

A 46-year-old man faces impaired driving charges after a driving complaint was received by city police Friday evening.  Shortly after 8 pm an alert security guard at a local campus reported a male party driving erratically in the parking lot. Impaired driver caught drinking in vehicle in parking lot

On Tuesday the 1st of October shortly before 5:00 pm Owen Sound Police were alerted by citizens of 2 men drinking alcoholic beverages in a pick-up truck parked in a parking lot of an upper west side apartment complex.  Police attended and located the two men who still had open liquor in the vehicle.  Investigation revealed that the driver was impaired.  The 56 year old Owen Sound man was arrested and brought to the police ...

FIRE AT WESTSIDE APARTMENT BUILDING

On Sunday September 29th, 2019 just before 9:00am Owen Sound Fire Services along with Owen Sound Police, Paramedics and Inter-township Fire responded to a fire at an apartment building on the westside of the city. Upon arrival Firefighters found a 3rd floor apartment to be fully engulfed in flames.  Firefighters were able to contain the fire to this unit and quickly extinguished it.
