The Owen Sound Police Service has a requirement for two (2) experienced part-time Dispatchers.  Under the direction of their supervisor, these positions will be responsible for administrative and emergency call-taking and dispatching in computerized Communications Centre.  These positions involve shift work and have no guaranteed number of hours per week.

Each spring local police services deal with a surge of calls from the public regarding what they believe are ‘rabid’ raccoons. These raccoons appear around residential properties during the daytime hours causing people concern. Police are wanting to educate residents that these raccoons are not necessarily rabid, but rather the animals may be experiencing a common condition called distemper.

On Tuesday May 5th, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Owen Sound Police responded to a complaint of a driver who possibly had an open container of alcohol inside their vehicle. The driver was observed by an employee at an east side fast food restaurant when the driver pulled through for his order. Officers arrived to investigate and found the vehicle in the restaurant parking lot.

Male arrested for dangerous driving and impaired by drug

Shortly after 6:00 pm on 23 April 2020 police attended a parking lot in the downtown core regarding a motor vehicle collision.  Police quickly learned that the lone involved vehicle was also the same vehicle in a traffic complaint received a short time earlier.
