Basic Requirements

Criteria for hiring under the Ontario Police Services Act

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age

  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard to his or her own safety and the safety of members of the public

  • Must be of good moral character and habits

  • Must have successfully completed at least four years of secondary school education or its equivalent 

Additional Criteria

  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G or higher)

  • Must have no criminal convictions

  • Must be certified in standard First Aid and CPR (Level “C”)

  • Applicants must also possess a valid OACP Constable Selection System certificate to be considered a qualified applicant
